Out of a total of 30,000 genes in human, only 300 have no corresponding gene in the mouse. Thus there is only 1% gene difference between man and mouse.
Most of the repetitive DNA sequences in the 75% of the genome that is essentially junk (but not garbage) ceased to accumulate millions of years ago, but a few sequences are still active and may do some good.
