A Healing Gift - By Roger Delano, Contd. |
I kept my mind still - free of thoughts, worry even the desire to be better. I surrendered, held to nothing, resisted nothing, waited, focussed on the spiritual eye, and practiced the techniques of meditation.
I spent a total of five hours in the MRI. The doctors were somewhat amazed, since many people cannot stand twenty minutes. After seven days I was able to take a wheelchair to a shower, and on the ninth day I was discharged, the hospital staff used words like 'miracle'. They had never seen anyone with as bad a case of transverse myelitis - they even thought I might die - and they had never seen anyone recover as fast either. Only after 11 days on Jan: 3, 1998 I walked without cane.
From this story, one might think that I am really good at focussing, using my will power, and connecting with spiritual realms. I never thought so. I had been performing my spiritual practices every day for two years, but I never had any profound experiences, never felt bliss or higher state of consciousness, never saw or heard of the well known signs of spiritual progress. Nor is my mind particularly disciplined. Trivial thoughts and inconsequential memories drift through it like clouds across the sky. There are lots of days I really prefer not to do practices at all.

Wake up and dream by Pat Mesti |
Its not what happens or what has happened to us in life that counts. It is how we respond to what happens that's important.
Walking dead. / ' cruising mentality'- doing enough to get by and nothing more.

' This is true joy in life, being used for the purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature, instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy' Bernard Shaw.
'comfort zone' get out of mere existence mode.
Just like a human body, the dream also develops through several stages, and the birth of the dream is no different. It all begins with conception, followed by formation, incubation and birth. A dream also goes through infancy, childhood to adulthood.
Cultivate inner wealth. Your 'lifestyle' may be propped up with a dozen credit cards, personal loans and shaky finances.
'You get the best out of others, when you give the best of yourself'
Harvey Firestone.
Your reputation is what people think you are; your integrity is what you know you are.
Confusious : 'our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail.'
Never stop dreaming and never give up your dream. Harlan Sanders worked hard to build a restaurant and motel business, but was left penniless when the highway on which it was located was re-routed. He was forced to sell everything just to cover losses. But he kept on dreaming - with only a pressure cooker and his now famous special seasoning, he drove across America in an old Ford, convincing restaurant owners to try out his new seasoning. Result - Kentucky Fried Chicken network world wide.
Invest in relationships.
