Reflections in the month of Shabaan ul kareem Hadith Qudsaniyah of Rasulallah (S.A) Shabaan –o- shahri, wa Ramadhan –o-Shahrullah wa Rajabun Sharroka Ya Ali. The month of Shabaan ul kareem is attributed to Rasulallah (S.A.) who personified noble traits and virtues. He was an embodiment of all that is good and noble in this world. He attained the the height of eminence by his perfection; He dispelled the darkness of the world by his grace, Excellent were all his qualities, Pray for him and his posterity. (translation of ‘balagul a’la be kamalehi …..) In this month we mumineen should make a concerted effort to acquire and enrich the noble virtues, improve our character, reflect and try to redress the shortcomings in our mindset, in our lifestyle and in our general dealings with fellow beings. The significance and beauty of the above Hadith is that, if you reflect on the sequence of the months, first we have Rajab ul asab, which signifies the ‘valayat’ of Ali Moula (S.A.) and his progeny the Imams (S.A.) and the vicegerents the Doat-ul- Mutlaqeen. Without ‘valayat’, all our efforts, our a’maal saleh, our namaz etc: come to naught. In our Deen ‘valayat’ is first and foremost After ‘valayat’ in order to do true ibaadat, it becomes imperative on us, to acquire a holistic life. Think of husn –ul- khulq (behtar Akhlaq) and immediately one’s sub consciousness, reflects on the munificence personality of our beloved Rasulallah. (S.A.) who by mere force of his character and personality, brought about a miracle, that has encompassed many centuries, and this miracle will continue to be witnessed by generations to come till the Day of Qayamat, and on the Day of Qayamat it self. After Shabaan ul karim comes Sharullah – the month of Allah, the month of ibaadat, the month of supplicating, fasting, offering vazebaat and doing virtues deeds. The rewards in this month are with Allah, and no doubt manifold, as Allah is the Giver. So the Hadith under reference, depicts the sequence of acquiring attributes, that will find culmination in the month of Sharullah. So in this month we should try to focus and reflect on acquiring behtar Akhlaq. Awareness is the first step in acquiring and achieving, we should first become aware. In the kitaab – Nafhaat Husnil Khulq 1418H (behtar Aklaq ni khusboo) at the end of the book,a detail list of Akhlaq mahmoodah (good) and Akhlaq mazmooah (bad) are given. There are in all 152 Akhlaq mahmoodah, and I would like to share with readers, only a few. The niyaat is to instill awareness in this month of Shabban. Let us strive to attain behtar akhlaq,in this month. A few of akhlaq mahmoodah are : Sadaq-un-niyyat - sachhi niyyat rakhwoo Sadaq-uz-zamir - dil si sachawwoo Kazam-ul-ghaiz - ghussa ne gilee jawoo Qubul –ul- haq - haq ni waat qubool karwoo Lawmun –nafs - potana jan ne nehnwoo (introspection of self) Al-bishr–o-fil wajah – hasto chehro rakhwoo etc: At least we can begin with the last one, as we read this article !! There are 128 Akhlaq mazmooah, and all of them are the result of 3 Ummaha-tul- maa’si (mothers of sins) and if we succeed in overcoming them, we will surely succeed in our endeavors. I will just name the ummahat –ul-maa’si and once we become aware of it, we will surely try to overcome it. Kibr – mohtai Hiras - lalach Hasad - adekhai I will conclude by highly recommending my readers to acquire a recent publication by Al-Jamiyah-tul-Saifiyah of Doa mubarak – le talabe-m’akaremul Akhlaq of Imam Ali Zainul Abedin Moula (S.A.)which also has a translation in liasan e dawat. It has a beautiful lyrical quality and beseeches Allah to grant us akhlaq mahmoodah and protect us from akhlaq mazmooah. May Allah grant our beloved Aqa Moula (TUS) whose entire life and action reflects husn-ul- khulq in all its glory and beauty, sehato-aafiyat-ta-kiyamat. Ameen.
