During this Ay’yamul Ta’abudaat a concerted effort is being made by mumineen throughout the world, to inculcate the noble virtue of istigfar in their daily lives, and in each bilad-e-imaniyah , muzakerat are being conducted, with Aqa Moula’s doa and raza mubarak, so that mumineen can reflect, be inspired and motivated to attain emancipation by sincere repentance.

Akhbar is anwa’ar, which illuminates. Today let us turn the pages of history and on the urs of Mulla Raja saheb ibne Dawood of Morbi, let us be inspired by the riwayat of his noble istigfar. In the context of my previous ‘write-up’ on the subject, wherein I had written – “ Repentance depends upon the nature of a person’s consciousness and the strength of his faith”

I would like to expound further on the subject. Every mumineen, even small children going to deeni madaris knows the glorious riwayat of Mulla Raja saheb of Morbi, whose worldly means were ordinary, but whose spirituality and devotion were extraordinary, and in his act of istigfar, we mumineen have learnt a great lesson.

His faith and devotion and the intensity of his istigfar made him cast away the jewels that came not once but twice, in his bucket, as he fetched for water from the well to do wazoo. For him, water was the need of the time, he knew his faith and conviction were being put to test, and he did not falter, pleaded with fervor and sought repentance, and lo! and behold, the bucket cast in the well for the third time, did contain water, so that he did wazoo, and hurried to pray his maghrib namaz in time.

This single act was the result of the high consciousness and faith that Mulla Raja saheb had inculcated in his life, by religiously upholding the deeni tenets, living a life of moral virtues, which is very important, not forsaking the world, but at the same time ,not being attached to it. These and many other good virtues that Aqa Moula (TUS) exhorts us to aspire for,on different miqaats, made Mulla Raja saheb cast away the jewels.

Now every one knows what Mulla Raja saheb in return, by casting away the jewels. If any one per chance does not know, seek the answer from some one, who knows and you will be amazed and inspired to do istigfar during this Ay’uamul Ta’abudaat. To be focused on the goal to be achieved, and the time frame (waqt- miqaat), is also very important.

Mulla Raja saheb was fully focused on getting the water from the well, and the time was also running out, and the jewels in the buckets, were an impediment, a distraction and the test of his faith. His all encompassing spirituality resulting from a life lived in accordance with the moral values, and following the tenets of deen and true walaya’t, made him repent, and surely for casting away the inanimate jewels, his progeny was blessed with roohani treasure trove, whose glitter will for ever glow and radiate in the Fatemi firmament.

For we mumineen, this riwayat is a great lesson, if our intention of achieving true istigfar is the true purpose. Have true valayat and ma’arefat, inculcate moral values, follow the tenets of deen, aspire for spirituality and akherat, be prepared for the test and challenges of life, be focused on your goals, do the right thing at the right time, and if per chance, if you get a bucket full of jewels when you need water, (figuratively speaking, not in the literal sense) do cast it away, do not be lured by the false gloss of materialistic world. In the words of Syedi Sadikali saheb “ duniya ni tu raghbat thi, seenah ne utaavi le”

True istigfar will bring forth a rich harvest in our lives, if the above virtues, are religiously practiced and becomes a way of our lives.

More than ten days have already passed, so if something worthwhile is to be achieved, get started now my friends.

I am indebted to our Amil saheb, Janab Yunusbhai saheb who yesterday night at the urs majlis of Mulla Raja saheb, narrated the riwayat, in the context of ‘istigfar’ and that started a chain of thoughts, which I enjoy sharing with you all, and hope and pray that, some greater good will be achieved.

I am also indebted to my friend and artist Bhai Nooruddin Amarjee who has conceptualized my thoughts in an artistically depicted calligraphy, that will be uploaded on my home page, as a link.

May Allah grant our beloved Aqa Moula (TUS) sehato a’fiyat-ta-kiyamat. Ameen.
